ClimEx-PE Governing Board Meeting and Online Project Workshop Held on 28 April 2026

The ClimEx-PE consortium held an online project workshop and its second Governing Board meeting on 28 April 2026. The two connected events provided an important opportunity to review the current status of the project, discuss strategic questions, and coordinate the next steps across work packages and partner institutions.

The online workshop brought together a broader group of project team members from the partner institutions. It focused on the practical implementation of the project, including progress across work packages, reporting tasks, KPIs, Open Data requirements, stakeholder engagement, educational activities, dissemination and scientific publications.

The partners reaffirmed the importance of following the project’s Data Management Plan and ensuring that relevant research data are made publicly available in line with Open Data principles. Stakeholder engagement was also highlighted as a key component of ClimEx-PE, supporting the practical and societal uptake of nature-based groundwater recharge solutions.

Educational and communication activities were among the central topics of the workshop. Educational materials developed within the project have already been used by ELTE and TCD colleagues in several classes, reaching more than 300 students so far. Other partners are also working on adapting the materials to their own institutional and educational contexts, including microcredential-based and event-based formats.

The consortium also discussed the need to further increase the visibility of project results through outreach events, conference presentations, website news and peer-reviewed Open Access publications. In the coming period, particular attention will be given to strengthening dissemination and accelerating the preparation of scientific outputs.

Following the workshop, the second ClimEx-PE Governing Board meeting was held. The meeting addressed project-level governance issues, with particular attention to the possible extension of the project requested or considered by several partners. The discussion helped clarify the consortium’s shared position and the next administrative steps to be taken in relation to the extension requests.

Overall, the workshop and the Governing Board meeting confirmed that the next phase of ClimEx-PE will require close cooperation across all partners. By aligning research, education, stakeholder engagement and dissemination activities, the consortium aims to further support the development and uptake of nature-based Managed Aquifer Recharge solutions as tools for climate adaptation.
