Innovative Water Solutions: ClimEx-PE and CHARM-EU Join Forces at ELTE Workshop

On January 17, 2025, the CHARM-EU Office at ELTE, in collaboration with the Faculty of Humanities, hosted a mini workshop featuring a three-party roundtable discussion. The event brought together key participants of the ClimEx-PE project, including researchers and leaders from various faculties at ELTE. Among the ClimEx-PE attendees were Judit Mádlné-Szőnyi, Attila Varga, Andrea Velich, Ildikó Erhardt, and Ferenc Gyuris. ELTE leaders such as Lénárd Darázs, Vice-Rector, and Dávid Bartus, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, were also present. Additionally, Hungarian CHARM-EU leaders, including Ferenc Takó, head of the CHARM-EU ELTE office, and Jesús Reyes, leader of the ELTE Capstone team, participated in the discussions. Representatives from Hungarian companies, such as Budapest Spas and Budapest Waterworks, who have been supporting the Capstone water-related research, also attended the workshop.

The Capstone project is a multidisciplinary research initiative that addresses real-world challenges. These projects are developed with a multidisciplinary approach, incorporating not only scientific perspectives but also social, economic, and societal considerations. This holistic approach is also a key feature of the ClimEx-PE project, ensuring comprehensive solutions to water-related issues.

The roundtable discussions focused on synchronizing future research and internship collaborations among ELTE, CHARM-EU, and EU-funded international projects like ClimEx-PE, as well as with Hungarian external stakeholders. During the roundtable, the ClimEx-PE project was presented by Judit Mádlné-Szőnyi, highlighting its goals and potential collaborations with Hungarian companies. The roundtable also covered the expansion of the CHARM-EU program and the integration of Capstone projects.

Following the roundtable, the graduating CHARM-EU Capstone students presented their Budapest and water-related research results. This presentation was part of their prototyping activity, involving stakeholders, and served as a rehearsal for their final presentation at the Grand Finale, at the University of Barcelona.

The workshop was a significant step in fostering collaboration and innovation in water-related research, highlighting the importance of interdisciplinary and international cooperation in addressing global water challenges.
