On December 13, 2024, a productive online workshop was held as part of the ClimEx-PE project, bringing together colleagues from Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) and representatives from the University of Zaragoza (UNIZAR), University of Utrecht (UU), and Trinity College Dublin (TCD). Unfortunately, representatives from the University of Barcelona (UB) were unable to attend, but their pre-submitted written materials were discussed during the workshop.
The workshop provided a comprehensive summary of the work completed since the project's inception and highlighted the significant achievements made so far.
Agenda Highlights:
- Introduction by Judit Mádl-Szőnyi (ELTE): The workshop began with an introduction, setting the stage for the day's discussions.
- WP1 - Project Coordination and Management: Brigitta Czauner (ELTE) presented an overview of project coordination and management, including project monitoring and reporting.
- Task 1.4 - Management of Stakeholder Engagement: Ignacio Cazcarro (UNIZAR) discussed the management of stakeholder engagement and the establishment of the Stakeholder Advisory Board.
- WP4 - Societal and Legal Tools: István Hoffman (ELTE) discussed the publications being prepared on societal and legal tools for enhancing the application and acceptance of NB-MAR.
- WP5 - Communicational and Educational Strategies: Jessica Lillquist (UU), Attila Varga (ELTE) and Andrea Velich (ELTE) presented on strategies for raising public awareness and the design and implementation of educational materials and campaigns.
- Task 5.4 - Dissemination of Results: Ildikó Erhardt (ELTE) highlighted the dissemination of the project's results.
- WP3 - Development of NB-MAR Tools: Brigitta Czauner (ELTE) provided insights into the development of natural groundwater flow-based MAR tools.
- WP2 - Baseline Assessment: Judit Mádl-Szőnyi (ELTE) and Ferenc Gyuris (ELTE) discussed the baseline assessment of the effects of extreme hydroclimatic events on groundwater and society.
Additional participants included Ádám Tóth (UU), Katrin Merfeld (UU), Dániel Zách (ELTE), Gábor Tolnai (ELTE), Iván Zsolt Berze (ELTE), Éva Mészáros (ELTE), Tasnia Esha (TCD), and Álmos Szőcs (ELTE), who all contributed to the fruitful discussions.
The workshop concluded with a summary of the discussions and a clear outline of the next steps to ensure the continued success of the ClimEx-PE project. We look forward to the ongoing collaboration and the impactful results that will emerge from this important project.
